Over the years
there have been bands laboured with bad haircuts or bad names (sometimes
both). Here we have a new British band with a great debut record and one
of the most unflattering names ever. Formed in London in 2009 these indy
rockers have been steadily building a following and reputation . At the
end of last year they were touted to be a breakout act in 2011.With the
release of their first self titled album it is easy to see what the fuss
is about.
These guys know how to write songs, and have a maturity beyond what
should be expected at this early stage of their recording career. Of the
12 excellent tracks here there is no filler with a full sound , at times
reminiscent of Dinasour Jr. It is hard to pick standout tracks, although
"Georgia" and the opener "Get Away" really shine. Best debut album of
the year (so far).
Final Word: Yuck don't suck.
