Thank You Happy Birthday - Cage The Elephant
Review submitted 23rd June 2011 from The Den
Rating: *** 3 stars
On this their
second album Cage The Elephant have put together a record
that progresses from their impressive debut, but still keeps the raw
freshness that brought them to the dance. There is a real style mix
going on here which really should not work but they manage to pull it
off effectively.
The obvious radio friendly "Shake Me Down" in not really indicative of
what's going on, with songs such as "Aberdeen" and "Indy Kidz" making
this record worthy of more plays to discover some musical treasures
buries just under the surface. This is a record that gets better the
more times it is played.
Final Word: Open the cage.
