Rating: (*** 2.5 stars)
Jack Ladder's third
release , the follow up to the fine "Love Is Gone" see our boy
channeling Nick Cave to a far greater degree than his previous efforts.
Not that there is anything wrong with that if done well and he finds a
Nick Cave Zone somewhere between Grinderman 2010 and Bad Seeds 2005.
This record has a commercial base that does not offend , but conversely
does not have the creative edge that made "Love Is Gone"
one of the best Australian albums of 2008.A slightly disappointing
follow up and while pretty good, I would suggest anyone showing interest
in Jack should definitely search out his 2008 gem for comparison.
Final Word: Close but no cigar.
