D - White Denim album review
Review submitted by The Den 25th June 2011
Rating: (** 2.5 stars)
White Denim
started as a trio from Austin Texas (now a 4 piece) and combine the
expected country rock along with almost free-form instrumentations, at
times reminiscent of Frank Zappa at his jazzy psychedelic best. Throw in
some nice pop melodies to the mix and you have an interesting
configuration that for the most part hits the mark. Some of their
material on this record falls short of the target but they wont die
wondering.
There is a real mix here but the real standout track is "Drug". The
level of musicianship is right up there, and I have to say White Denim
have the rockiest rhythm section in Texas.
Final Word: Real students of the game wont be disappointed with
this band.
